Jersey City band Big Wake teamed up with Ironbird Studios once again to produce video for their debut show at The Bitter End. The 3 camera production was edited and mixed by Angelo Ucciferri at Ironbird Studios. The legendary venue is NYC’s longest running rock club – and provides multitrack recording services to the bands. This allows us to fine tune the mix during post production and provide a much better soundtrack than a standard soundboard feed.

Ironbird Studios was excited to be a part of a special night of live music at Maxwell’s in Hoboken, NJ. The evening featured performances by The Old Wives, Beninghove’s Hangmen, and The One and Nines (who were celebrating the release of their new album). Ironbird Studios produced videos for two of the bands – supplementing their online promotional media content. Here are 2 samples – and the rest can be seen at their YouTube channels: youtube.com/theoneandnines & youtube.com/bryhove.
Ironbird Studios recently produced another live concert video for Kiwi; a 9-piece reggae/roots project out of Jersey City, NJ. Headlining at the famous Bitter End nightclub in Greenwich Village, NYC – Kiwi delivered a passionate performance – all captured on a multitrack audio recording. The audio recording, totaling 18 tracks, was mixed by Angelo Ucciferri in Ironbird Studios’ mix room – and synced up with the video during the editing phase.
Enjoy a sample from the show, and don’t hesitate to contact Ironbird Studios if you need video or audio production for you band.
The huge stage and classic ambiance of the Historic Blairstown Theater was a perfect setting for the Quimby Mountain Band record release show. Ironbird Studios was brought in to capture the performance with a 3 camera setup – 2 handheld cameras at the foot of the stage, and 1 in the rear of the venue. Enjoy a preview edit from the sold out show:
On the heels of their recent album release, Big Wake brought in Ironbird Studios to capture their performance at the legendary Sullivan Hall in Greenwich Village, New York City. The show was recorded and edited with a 2 cameras. One of the cameras (Canon HF-G10) was locked off on a wide shot, while the main camera (Sony HXR-NX5u) was operated on a Redrock Micro shoulder mount system. The setup allowed for a visually dynamic shoot with minimal crew – which is a great option for independent bands on a conservative budget.
Ironbird Studios recently finished editing a beautiful video highlighting the wedding of Kelly & Jason. The video was shot on location at the Lake House Inn in Perkasie, PA. Please contact us if you would like to discuss video ideas for your big day – or other special event.
Ironbird Studios is excited to announce the release of the debut album from Jersey City band Big Wake. Big Wake began recording the album with us last year, and put a tremendous amount of time and effort in to it. The album was recorded and mixed by Angelo Ucciferri at Ironbird Studios, and mastered at West Westside Music with Alan Douches.
You can stream the album right here – and please support the band by buying a copy at an upcoming show. Visit their Facebook page for upcoming shows and more information. Big Wake by Ironbird Studios
Ironbird Studios was excited to be a part of an incredibly colorful video shoot for Jersey City based roots/reggae band Kiwi. Bathed in candyland colors by the in-house lighting system – the lively 10 piece ensemble intimately packed themselves on to the stage of Shrine World Music Venue in Harlem NYC. 17 songs later, the band had some amazing video to use for online exposure and promotion.
The single camera shoot allowed organic handheld camera movement, employing the Manfrotto Fig Rig camera stabilizer. The tight quarters encouraged the use of a Century Optics wide angle lens, squeezing the whole band in to wide shots from only a few feet away. The sound was recorded with a Zoom H4n recorder in 4-channel mode. 2 channels of soundboard audio and 2 channels of room sound were later mixed in post production.
Please learn more about Kiwi at their website, and visit their YouTube channel to see the videos we produced.
After finishing up production on Big Wake’s debut album, we’ve turned our attention to video promotion for the band. Knowing that the band will need to promote the album release heavily, Ironbird Studios produced live video for 4 concerts over the past few months. After reviewing over 4 hours of live video shot at The Court Tavern and The Saint – the band decided on 12 songs to upload to You Tube, and serve as promotional material for the upcoming release. The video collection includes songs from the album, as well as some new material. The video was shot with a single camera on a Manfrotto Fig Rig handheld stabilizer – and the audio is a mix of soundboard recordings and room mics.
Check out Big Wake’s You Tube channel – including a customized theme. Rather than upload all the videos at once, the decision was made to release them in batches leading up to the album release – maximizing promotional impact.
Ironbird Studios recently produced a video for the band Catch Wild – to support their fundraising campaign through Kickstarter.com. This website is enabling a growing trend in independent music that allows artists to fund recording projects through fan donations.
Catch Wild and Ironbird Studios have worked together in the past at a live concert video shoot at Brooklyn’s Bar Matchless. So we were excited to get a call from them again to work on this Kickstarter video – with the interview shot at the famous Big Blue Meanie studios in Jersey City, NJ.
Catch Wild’s fiery front-girl, Jessica Rose, and guitarist Doug Atkins gained notoriety in 2009 when they won the acoustic round of Break’n Through, a concert series sponsored by VH1. After bringing in bassist Eric Swiontkowski and former drummer Shawn Fichtner – they went on to be declared “Best Band” in the finals in May 2010.
Ironbird Studios encourages you to check out CatchWild.com and help them meet their Kickstarter goal. If your band is interested in raising funds for your next project and would like a video to help promote your efforts – don’t hesitate to contact us.
